Women have had a major influence on the art world, but their achievements are often overlooked in mainstream stories. To address this, I created an interactive map featuring 346 contemporary women artists from the Artcyclopedia database. The map shows their main disciplines, ages, generational groups, and continents of birth.

 

This project combines data storytelling, design, and my own curiosity. I wanted to use data to find patterns and connections that are often missed. By mapping these artists, I hoped to create a visual tribute to their diversity and influence, and to offer a new way to explore their role in the global art world.

 

To me, this is more than just a dataset. It’s a way to look at representation in art from a new, data-driven angle.
