Data visualization doesn’t always have to be just about sharing information. I started this bird species project because I wanted a break from deadline-driven, structured work and wanted to try something more playful and creative. With a simple dataset on bird species from different countries, my goal was to turn basic statistics into a visually rich and imaginative experience.
Rather than focusing on exact numbers, I chose to express myself artistically by creating soft, feathery visuals to show each country’s bird diversity. My aim was not to make precise comparisons, but to use the data as a starting point for telling a visual story. I didn’t set any strict rules or expectations. Instead, I let my curiosity guide the process and allowed the design to develop naturally. That freedom made a difference. The final piece might not be packed with data, but it’s engaging and thought-provoking. It shows that sometimes, the real value of visualization is in sparking wonder and appreciation, not just sharing information.
