This visualization shows the wealth of Trump administration cabinet members by comparing their wealth to physical objects, making the numbers easier to understand. What does $1 million or $10 million really mean in everyday terms? The project uses creative comparisons to help answer that question.

When showing large amounts of money, I’ve noticed that most people have trouble understanding just how big those numbers are. Even if people think about buying homes, cars, or businesses, these examples still feel abstract to many.

 

I wanted to give clearer ways to compare these amounts, but I also thought carefully about how to do it. I chose not to show how the money could be spent, like feeding a certain number of people, because that might suggest what wealthy people should do with their money and could cause resentment instead of understanding.

 

Instead, I chose to compare the wealth by stacking it as physical objects, giving an objective sense of scale. This way, viewers can see how large these amounts are without making any judgments about how wealth is distributed.
