This project is based on a major investigation by journalists from Rise Project, who carefully collected a large amount of legal and media data to reveal sexual abuse in Romanian schools. Unlike my earlier projects, this visualization was not meant to be visually expressive. Instead, it was created as a precise, searchable tool for anyone wanting to understand the scale of the problem.
This project was challenging, both because of the sensitive topic and the sense of responsibility involved. The goal was not to draw attention to the visualization itself, but to protect the integrity of the data and provide a platform where victims’ stories could be seen as part of a larger systemic problem.
If I had more time or resources to revisit this project, I would focus on making the interface even easier to use, maybe by adding advanced filters or ways to compare patterns by region, school type, or legal outcome. Still, in its current form, it does what it is meant to do: it is a serious, factual, and transparent tool.
