Today, leadership is more important than ever around the world. The Atlas of Leadership lets readers explore the different backgrounds of heads of state from many countries. With an interactive map, you can discover the stories of today’s leaders and learn about their education, gender, and generation.

 

I am especially interested in how this project shows the impact of different generations on leadership. Even though countries have very different social and economic backgrounds, technology is a shared influence that shapes societies everywhere, though at different speeds. This makes it possible to compare leadership styles across cultures and see how people in different places react to global changes.

 

This project looks closely at the education, age groups, and gender of heads of state around the world as of August 11, 2023. The information comes from reliable sources like official presidential websites, major news outlets, and verified Wikipedia pages.

 

This project looks at heads of state instead of heads of government, giving a unique view of leadership. In most countries, people choose their head of state through a popular vote. This helps us understand the specific responsibilities citizens give to these leaders, which is different from how heads of government are selected.
